New Hampshire Today

Yes, it gets cold up here.   But no, there really are black people in New Hampshire.

More than most people think.   More than I expected when I moved here.   More of us than several years ago.  This summer I went to the annual(!) African/Carribean festival in downtown Manchester.  And it was filled with Africans and Carribeans…

This sure isn’t the South.   There aren’t black people everywhere.   But when I travel around the state, I see plenty of other black people I don’t know.   I am know I’m not alone here.

The last year or so, I’ve seen some reaching out to each other across the state.   We want to connect more than we do.   More than we had been able in the past.

The primary has had a lot to do with it.   Not every black person I know here supports Obama.   But even those that don’t show signs of wanting to.   And there are plenty of undecided folks who are gonna wait to the final day (Hi, NB!).    With the primary coming in about a month, the campaigning in the state is about to get wild.   QJ
